Gettin Raw and Reel

What it was like creating my first piece of video content. (spoiler: it was scary).

Here is a link to the reel if you haven’t seen it already: reel

It was a cold January morning and the wind sung a song of new things to come...

Only joking, It actually started the night before when I told my girlfriend Paula about how I used to make vlogs back when I was about 14 years old (i.e. the hero picture of this newsletter *can only see it on web version*).

I realized not only does having an audience give you a wider cast net, but I also just want to make content because it is SUPER fun to me.

Fear of rejection, fear of judgment, and HOW THE HELL do I get started. ← all things we all face when doing something new… But I had a secret weapon and he is a Chilean man that goes to my school.

Paula told me to reach out and ask him to show me the ropes so I ran to my dm’s and sent a semi-cringe message pleading the man to help me (He has like 80k followers on Insta which is huge in my eyes).

Luckily he agreed to meet me at a coffee shop the very next day.

We sit down and he slaps a big sketch book on the table and opens it up.

Asked me about my goal for creating content, gave me a whole schedule of what type of content to post and even helped me write an initial script. Then “THE DEAL“.

We made a deal that if I didn’t post my introduction video by the end of the day, I had to pay for coffee next time. So off I went.

The whole process of filming was so fun and I’m lucky to have such a great girlfriend that I get to film with and laugh at the bloopers with as well. Not only recording the clips was fun but I even played the music for the background on the guitar and I think it added a great personal touch.

Overall 10/10 experience would and will totally do again.

*also shout out to Vicho for guiding me through this entire process*
